Lussobound Meets the Hunter Valley
Share
Recently I took a trip to Newcastle to visit my sister, my first time there, and I was pleasantly surprised! Merewether is such a beautiful part of Newcastle, with some pretty stunning coastal views.

With the Hunter Valley only a 45-minute drive away, that's where we headed the following day.
Accommodation
We stayed at The Convent Hunter Valley which is situated in the heart of the Hunter Valley surrounded by beautiful vineyards. The retreat is a beautifully restored historic convent with all the charm of a grand country estate.
The rooms have a classic, English country-inspired fee, antique-style furnishings and gorgeous verandahs overlooking the grounds. It also happens to have a rather interesting history... including a reputation for being a little haunted. π» although, we did not have any spooky experiences - unfortunately π

Wine Tasting
Conveniently located next door to The Convent was Pepper Tree Wines - exactly what you picture when you think Hunter Valley. Beautiful grounds, a relaxed cellar door and plenty of good wine to work your way through.
It's an easy place to settle in for a tasting before heading off to explore more of wine country.

AtmosphereΒ
We didnβt really have any plans on where to go next, but stumbled across John Wallace Wines - a gorgeous country-style building, big open lawn and relaxed atmosphere.
It ended up being one of our favourite stops. Owner Beth was incredibly welcoming and made us feel completely at home - the kind of place you could easily settle in for the afternoon.

Dinner
After a day of wine tasting, Harrigan's Hunter Valley was the perfect place to wine down - I mean - wind down π. Dinner by the open fireplace, a glass of wine and live music afterwards. Exactly the kind of relaxed ending a day in wine country calls for.
Then it was back to Peppers Convent for the night... ghosts and all. π»
What Came With Me
Of course, no little escape is complete without a few Lussobound favourites.
From the drive to the wineries and everything in between, these were the pieces that came along for the journey.
